Images and words from Beijing by a Sydney-based British journalist. Most photos were taken with an old Leica III or a Contax IIa, using print film or slides.

Welcome to Beijing
I have just arrived in Beijing in the middle of summer. I am working as an editor - or "polisher" - with a government-run English language newspaper. I will be posting my pictures of Beijing taken with a variety of cameras. My usual camera is a Kodak digital DX7630, simply for the convenience it offers in uploading. But I am a keen user of "classic cameras" from the 1930s to the 1970s. My preferred ones are a Leica R3 and a Leica IIIa [with either a Summar or Elmar 35mm lens]. I also use a Contax IIa with a 50mm Sonnar lens and a Voigtlander Vito B.
